Asphalt
Loading / Unloading Terminals & Asphalt Saturators
Light end hydrocarbons emitted by hot asphalt are shock
cooled when they contact the atmosphere creating a visible
plume composed predominately of submicron liquid mist
particles. This creates a "blue smoke" that
can coat equipment, cause unpleasant odors, escape into
the atmosphere, and become health hazards when inhaled.
These small organic mist particles are typically removed
from the vapor stream by using FLEXIFIBER® Mist
Eliminators,
which can eliminate the oil mist plume and reduce or
eliminate odor caused by mercaptens
in the vapor stream. The mist eliminator systems supplied
by Koch-Otto York can include all ancillary equipment
such as prefilters, blowers, and heat exchangers for
a complete skid-mounted system.

bulletin, “FLEXIFIBER® Mist Eliminators for
Asphalt Vent Systems,” which is available by completing
a request form.

Organic Vent Packages
Small sub-micron organic droplets that emit "blue smoke" and cause
a visible plume are generated by manufacturing processes such as plastics extrusion,
injection molding, curing ovens, calendering, or any basic vinyl processing
operation that involves high temperatures to work plasticized polymers.
The plume is caused by shock-cooling the vaporized organics and are typically
removed from vapor streams by using FLEXIFIBER® Mist
Eliminator technology.
The mist eliminators can be supplied as a complete package with housing, blower,
motor, damper, and so forth. Because OSHA and NIOSH
are being more stringent regarding emission limits, it is even more critical
to address these applications.
More information is available in our application bulletin, “FLEXIFIBER® Mist
Eliminators For Plasticizer Emissions,” which can be obtained by completing
a request form.
